How to Stream the Rugby on Spark Sport

The easiest way to watch Spark Sport is to wirelessly “cast” from your device to your TV using a Chromecast.

Check out our video on how to do this below.

Spark Sport is natively supported on computers, mobile phones and tablets. It can be accessed via your web browser, or using the Spark Sport app. The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Play Store. Once downloaded, simply open the app and sign in with your Spark Sport credentials and you’re good to go!

At the moment, only certain Samsung Smart TVs can download the Spark Sport app directly to the TV. Spark are currently working on a TV app for other brands that should be rolled out in the near future. They’re also in the process of developing an Apple TV app.

In the meantime…

In the meantime, to watch Spark Sport on your TV you have a few options available. You can either:

  1. Connect your computer directly to your TV using an HDMI cable.
  2. You can wirelessly “cast” from your device to your TV using a Chromecast.
  3. If you have an Apple device and an Apple TV, you can share your devices screen to your TV using Airplay.

Spark Sport is currently not available as an app on Apple TV, so screen sharing is the only option at this time.

As Spark Sport is an internet based service, a stable internet connection is required. Spark also recommend you have at least a 15Mb/s download speed . This is so you can benefit from the highest quality content, with a minimum of 6Mb/s to support the lowest quality.

Geeks on Wheels X Spark Sport

Geeks on Wheels have teamed up with Spark Sport to offer a Spark Sport Stream Assist consultation service. We can assess your current setup and make recommendations on the best solution to fit your needs. We can install and configure Chromecasts, provide training on the installation and use of the app. Most importantly we can ensure your internet connection is running at its optimum ensuring you have the best possible streaming experience. Due to the nature of streaming services, a reliable connection is paramount. If your connection is temperamental you could end up with the dreaded buffering circle of death. This can lead to crossed fingers or remote throwing in the hope a match resumes without missing any of the action!

To ensure you don’t miss out on any of the action we can cover your house in Wi-Fi using the latest MESH technology. This will ensure every wireless device has the strongest signal possible, regardless of its location in your house. We can hook up stationary devices, such as Apple TVs and Smart TVs, to your network using ethernet cables. This will guarantee the best possible connection.

As with all streaming services, bare in mind that if lots of people in your house or in the neighbourhood are using the internet at the same time, this may impact your experience. However, using a technology known as “QoS” (Quality of Service) we can help prioritise devices in your home, ensuring certain devices receive a high enough bandwidth, regardless of how many devices are on your network.

Contingency Plan

Spark Sport has put a contingency plan in place via its partnership with TVNZ. If there were to be widespread and significant issues stopping there customers from accessing a match directly from Spark Sport, Rugby 2019 matches could go live on TVNZ Duke at a few minutes notice.

1 Free trial valid as of 05/07/2019
